Janelle Stevens is a 37-year-old part-time PR consultant, and part-time mother. She lives in Rhode Island with her husband Wayne, a fishing boat captain who is often gone for month-long excursions. This is the only information we had when starting this project. My job was to put a face to the name, create a storyline for the persona, and create a website for them. This assignment allowed me to have creative control. The website’s purpose, topic, content, and design were all factors that I chose.
Since Janelle is a PR consultant, I decided that her website would be a business website that offers her services along with information about her business, clients she works with, and her contact information. This website was created with WIX, which is a website template I had never used prior to this assignment. I find it easier and a better fit for me to create websites with templates compared to coding them.
When viewing Janelle’s About Page on her website, you will find an exciting and scary story that her family experienced when going on a fishing trip together. This story catches the reader’s attention and makes her website more personal. It also compares her exciting story to how exciting her job is. Janelle loves her job and she wants to connect with potential clients who are looking at her website.
The design of this website focuses on the audience and its usability. Janelle wants potential clients to be pleased with her work. Her website includes testimonials from other clients which shows how much they appreciate her work. It is also easy for clients to get in contact with Janelle because her social media, contact information, and the location of her office are all included on the website.
